Muthurajawela

Muthurajawela is located near Ja-Ela, about 30km away from Colombo. The area is connected to the Dutch ear Hamilton Canal which is said to be over 100km long. We went on a Photography visit on Saturday, 10th November 2012 and found the Muthurajawela Information Center. The 2 hour boat ride costs only Rs. 350 per person and it’s fully worth it. The earliest boar ride starts at 7.30am and its advisable to go early as possible if you are a bird lover.

Footworks Dancesport Championship – 2012

Footworks Dancesport Championship was held at the Grand Ballroom – Hilton Hotel on 21st October 2012. This year there were many Sri Lankan dance couples in the Novice and Pre-Amateur categories than any other year, however there were only few participants from other countries for Novice and Pre-Amateur Latin events.

Vintage photo shoot at DBU

I was having an idea of doing a small scale photo shoot for some time. I didn’t really have an idea of what to do or how to do. One day I saw some really nice pictures of Layani and I asked her whether she is ok for a photo shoot. So it started, we decided on a theme and it was Vintage. Having thought of conducting the photo shoot at either Dutch Hospital or Independent Square I went to visit those two places only to find out that we need permission from Ministry of Defense to do such a thing (Seriously are those places a target for any terrorist organization??)

The Dutch Burgher Union (DBU) of Sri Lanka is an old colonial type building located in Colombo and I happened to go there to get a Lamprais. After a chat and some email conversations they agree to let us conduct the photo shoot at the DBU. For some reason I decided to complicate the simple photo shoot by adding a Vintage car, some makeup artists, and some more photographers.

The photo shoot took place on Saturday, 29th September 2012 and it was a massive success. I never thought it would be this great but it really was :)

7 to 7 workshop

Yet again the Photography Society of Sri Lanka (PSSL) has arranged a photo shoot at the Goldi Sands Hotel - Negombo on Sunday, 23rd September 2012. The theme was Style at the beach or better known as 7 to 7 workshop as it started at 7am and finished by 7pm.

Thalangama Lake is famous among the Photographers who like Birds. Though it was a gloomy day and the lake was not really clean we managed to get some nice photographs; not really birds but what’s happening around the lake.

Deanna School of Dancing has organized a concert called Unleashed. It was held on 18th August 2012 at the Bishops College Auditorium.

Though they are specialized on Ballet dancing they have done a really good job on free style. Specially the choreography has been amazing.
