The Grid

It's a dining place located in SpeedRome for the automobile enthusiasts. They have a crazy menu filled with all Formula 1 star names. Prices are bit too much but it's a convenient place to hang out and watch some games on TV with your friends.

RedBull X-Fighters - 2011

RedBull X-Fighters Jam happened on 30th July 2011 for the 2nd consecutive year in Sri Lanka. Last year it was a free event and the Galle Face Green was overcrowded, maybe that's why they have charged this time. Since we paid for the so called Grand Stand tickets, I was expecting a better view, but no; the view was worse than anybody else's. We were staring at the shiny sun for most of the time and the show was not exiting as last year either.

TNL OnStage 2011 - Finals

The Party in the Park, that's what they called the TNL OnStage Finals this year. In the previous couple of years OnStage happened at the Sri Lanka Exhibition and Convention Center (SLECC) but this season the finals took place at "Vihara Mahadevi" Amphitheater on 29th July 2011.

Dampe Village is located near the famous Bolgoda Lake. Since its just 20 kilometers away from Colombo we went there for a day outing on 16th July 2011. The view from the hotel for the Bolgoda Lake is good, and it has a very calm environment to chill out.

International Rhythm World Dancesport Championship - 2011

The very 1st Sri Lanka International Rhythm World Dancesport Championship was held on 3rd July 2011 at the Grand Ballroom of Galadari Hotel – Colombo. I first had doubts getting those expensive tickets for the event but at the end it was well worth the money.

The difference between the Amateur and Professional levels compared to the other levels such as Beginner etc… was significant. Especially the Blackpool dancers put up a great show at the grand finals. Unfortunately no Sri Lankans participated in the Amateur and Professional categories but most of the Beginner, Novice and other entry level categories were filled with Sri Lankan dance couples.
